After several loan spells away from the club, Saliba has firmly established himself in Mikel Arteta’s lineup, forming a solid defensive partnership with Brazilian teammate Gabriel.
Saliba made history last season as the first outfield player in Arsenal’s history to play every minute of a Premier League campaign. His efforts helped Arsenal finish just two points behind Manchester City while securing the league’s best defensive record.

In an interview with Fox Sports Mexico, Saliba expressed confidence in his abilities but stressed that trophies are what distinguish great players from the best.
“I’ve been on the right track for both seasons, especially last season,” Saliba said. “I may be on my way to becoming the best defender in the world. I think I’m one of the best right now, but to claim that, I need to win titles. That’s what I’m missing.”
He continued, “If you win titles, you’re considered great, but if you don’t, you can’t claim to be the best. That’s how I see it. I’m one of the best in the world, but I need those trophies.”
